WELCOME!

The World Forum for Acoustic Ecology (WFAE), founded in 1993, is an international association of affiliated organizations and individuals, who share a common concern with the state of the world's soundscapes. Our members represent a multi-disciplinary spectrum of individuals engaged in the study of the social, cultural and ecological aspects of the sonic environment.

The WFAE has seven international affiliate organizations with three in Europe, two in North America, and one each in Japan, and Australia. New affiliates are forming in Mexico and Greece. Join today and become a part of the soundscape community.

Uses and Abuses of Sound: 2010 - The next International Conference of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology will be held in Koli, Finland, June 15-19, 2010.

The conference theme is 'Ideologies and Ethics in the Uses and Abuses of Sound’ and is hosted by the Finnish Society for Acoustic Ecology (FSAE). The conference website provides an overview of the conference and how to participate.

Koli, in Eastern Finland, is a perfect site for reflecting upon ideologies, ethics and soundscapes, since it was amongst the key places of the national romantic artist pilgrims in the late 19th century Finland. (FSAE) invites researchers and artists from all disciplines to join this forum.
