The WFAE encourages you to join one of seven affiliated organizations located around the world. As an affiliate member you receive the benefits provided by a regional association and those of the WFAE.
An individual WFAE membership is also available when no regional affiliate organization is available to meet your needs.

What is a WFAE Affiliate
Organization?
WFAE Affiliate organizations have been formed to represent the interests of individuals and carry out activities at a local or regional level. The WFAE is a collective of these local organizations who wish to co-operate with each other and create a global vision for acoustic ecology.
WFAE affiliate organizations serve Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Ireland,Italy, Japan, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Affiliate Organization has a single vote on the WFAE board
- each
individual member of an Affiliate Organization receives Soundscape: The Journal of Acoustic Ecology.

individual member of an Affiliate Organization has voting rights
in ballots of the WFAE membership at large

individual from an Affiliate Organization can be appointed to
the board

What is an Affiliated Individual Membership?
A WFAE Individual Affiliate membership is available when no regional organization is available.
An Individual Affiliate receives WFAE discounts and the twice yearly Soundscape: The Journal of Acoustic Ecology .
Regular: US $35 - Students: US $20 (with copy of your current student
ID).
Individuals may pay their membership fees directly to the
WFAE from wherever they live. This is particularly for those who
have no convenient Affiliate Organization, who relocate frequently,
or for any other reason. However, we recommend that where possible,
the appropriate Affiliate Organization be joined.
Please send US cheques, international money orders, or travelers
cheques made out to the WFAE. Do not send drafts, as bank charges
are very high!

What is an Associate
Organization?
This category is
designed for memberships of groups who have an interest in the field
of Acoustic Ecology and wish to support the WFAE. Associate Organizations
can be involved in the deliberations of the Board of WFAE but do
not have voting rights.
Any organization
sharing the goals and objectives of the WFAE can become an Associate
member. Associate Organizations are entitled to limited rights within
the WFAE.
Individual members
of Associate Organizations may apply for membership as an Individual
Affiliate.

Organization receives one WFAE newsletter which it may choose
to distribute to its membership
- Associate Organization
have the option of placing a single NON-VOTING representative
on the WFAE board

Associate Organization has the right to ONE vote at WFAE general
assemblies
Organizational Fees: US $75.- (or suitable amount by agreement)
Associations who have an interest in acoustic ecology and wish to
support the WFAE are asked to pay your the membership fee directly
to the WFAE. Do not send drafts, as bank charges are very high!

Individuals or groups interested in establishing an affiliate organization should contact the WFAE for guidelines. Many affiliates have started with only a small group of dedicated individuals. Donations
Additional donations (in CDN$, US $ or Eurofunds) will be gratefully accepted. Donations will be used toward the production of the journal, and to help subsidize those who cannot afford membership, or who come from countries with disadvantageous exchange rates.
