Job Opportunity - Project Administrator

The Canadian Association for Sound Ecology (CASE) is proud to announce an exciting employment opportunity at its Toronto home base. CASE is looking for a young, ambitious, self-directed, hard-worker to administer a multi-faceted arts and heritage project.

The project is called Toronto Sound Mosaic and is a three-part historical investigation into the evolving soundscape of Toronto. The first part involves holding community workshops with historical experts and community elders to inspire their acoustic imagination and trigger their sound memories. The second part involves research into public archives for information on the evolution of the Toronto soundscape to its present form. This part will also include documentation on present day Toronto. The third part will consist of collecting the information accumulated from the previous phases and orchestrating them into a public outdoor performance. The accumulated information will also provide the groundwork for an enhanced CD audio publication to be realized at a future date.

Applicants for the position of Project Administrator must be under the age of 30, legally eligible to work in Canada, and have just completed cultural training or have less than four years professional experience and are currently unemployed, underemployed, or self-employed with an interest in expanding skills. They should also possess the following attributes:

The project administrator will work from the Toronto office of CASE and report to CASE's board of directors. Applications for the position of Project Administrator should be in the form of a letter outlining relevant skills, attributes, professional/academic experience, as well as personal interest in the areas of heritage and/or sound ecology. A resume and a letter of reference from a colleague, instructor, or former employer should also be included. Please mail or deliver applications to the address above by 5 PM on August 16, 1999. Submissions by fax or email are not acceptable. For more information contact Darren Copeland at 905-822-3918 or darcope@interlog.com.
